Description:
We are hiring a dedicated Support Worker proficient in Australian Sign Language (Auslan) to join our team and provide high-quality support to a Deaf participant in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Belmore.
This role is essential in improving communication within the household and ensuring the participant receives person-centred active support.
About your role:
- Promote choice and control and show eagerness to participate in our clients’ day to day routines, goals, and interests.
- Follow positive behaviour support and client care support plans as directed by clinical teams and site managers.
- Encourage capacity building to enhance clients’ current skills, such as hygiene, safe relationships, domestic duties, using public transport and accessing the community safely.
- Provide personal care and manual handling with dignity and respect.
- To be competent in your computer/ IT skills and report writing
- Additionally, the successful candidate must be flexible and able to assist other participants when required.
Some of our requirements:
- Proficiency in Australian Sign Language (Auslan) (formal certification is desirable but not required)
- P2 NSW Drivers Licence or higher and your own vehicle
- Working with Children's check, NDIS Workers check, First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain
- We require staff to work on a 24/7 rotating roster so applicants must have full working rights and be able to work more than 20 hours a week (mornings 6am-2pm, afternoons 2pm-10pm, active nights 10pm-6am).
