The Role
As an intermediate/senior accountant your core focus is to provide optimal client service with the provision of quality, timely and cost effective accounting and business services. Key tasks include responsibility for leadership, technical competence, commercial acumen, business development and the preparation of various financial statements, tax returns and GST returns. The position also requires coaching and support of less experienced accounting staff. Responsible for client relationships - proactively works to establish and maintain effective client relationships and continually looks for ways to add value.

Your duties will include:
- Provide day-to-day financial reporting services to a portfolio of clients and structures, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures
- Prepare financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards
- Prepare accounting files, including checklists to support the effective review of the financial statements
- Work closely with clients to ensure that accounting records are accurate and transactions and activity within the portfolio are understood and incorporated into the disclosures as appropriate
- Ensure high quality service delivery and any discrepancy is monitored and resolved professionally
- Preparation of tax returns - Personal, GST, Company, Trust, Business Activity Statements (BAS), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Payroll, Superfunds
- Mentor and provide guidance to more junior employees
- 3 to 5 years’ working experience within an accounting firm catering to business services
- Good knowledge of federal and state tax legislation and applicable accounting standards
- Experience/exposure of accounting and tax structures holding assets, businesses
- Exceptional organisation and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Xero accounting software
- Advanced computer skills on accounting software and databases
- Good attitude, self starter and willing to go the extra mile
