Role Detail The Global Business Acceptance team (GBAT) is growing as our AML/CTF and Financial Crime program expands, and as we embark on a Strategic Program to optimise the firm’s governance, global business acceptance and engagement risk & compliance policies, processes, systems and controls (governance framework). This role is a key leadership role within GBAT with responsibility for all aspects of the client and business intake processes across the Global firm, from the initial introduction of new business and throughout the client lifecycle. This role will work closely with the rest of GBAT (located across Australia and the United Kingdom), and alongside the China risk team (based in Beijing), and is a key regional leadership role involving the analysis, identification, supervision and management of legal, ethical and professional conduct rules (conflicts, confidentiality), and commercial/client alignment, regulatory (AML, sanctions), reputational and strategic risks when accepting new clients and matters and throughout the client and matter lifecycle. This role is responsible for reviewing, drafting and advising on conflicts wording and engagement terms in client-facing documentation. You will also be responsible for the management, training and mentoring of a number of GBAT members. About You The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience managing conflicts and alignment in an international firm, preferably with a strong London presence (experience in Australia and Hong Kong markets is a plus). You will have expertise in handling complex conflict issues, particularly in firms with Mergers & Acquisitions/Finance practices, and be experienced in leading and mentoring a diverse team. Skilled in building relationships with various stakeholders and thinking strategically is essential. Key knowledge areas include understanding international law firm matters, professional conduct obligations across jurisdictions (Australia, UK, Hong Kong), AML/CTF requirements, and risk management practices.
