About the role

We have an exciting and unique opportunity for a Site Surveillance Officer to join Icon Water. This role has the primary responsibility for on-site inspection and monitoring of the required technical components of projects.

About your new role

Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Provide specialised project surveillance work and input in either a functional or advisory capacity in relation to design, development and construction work.
  • Required to undertake visual inspections of work and liaise with stakeholders to plan site inspections
  • Provide reports regularly to the project manager and clients detailing progress and any problems encountered.
  • Provide measurements and samples of materials and carry out quality control checks, this includes identifying defects and proposed solutions to rectify.
  • Build and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan site inspections and report regularly to the relevant project manager and clients detailing progress and any problems encountered.
  • Monitor contractors as required to ensure that all schedules, technical, quality, safety and environmental obligations are achieved.
  • Ensure that design integrity and designer obligations and liabilities are maintained through endorsed design change control procedures.
  • Undertake the assessment, formulation and implementation as appropriate, of Icon’s standards and procedures for the preparation of works and related technical documentation.
  • Assist project engineers in the review and mark-up of design documents throughout the design phase of projects to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure customers are notified of all planned service interruptions in accordance with Icon’s procedures and standards of service.
  • Assist with managing minor projects as directed.
  • Review contractors’ work methods, job safety and environment analyses and inspection and test plans when required by the project manager.
  • Attend contract meetings and prepare minutes of delegated projects.
  • Other duties within the employee’s skill, competence and training.

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Relevant trade-based qualification, or technical certificate or diploma in relevant discipline (mechanical, electrical or civil) from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies preferably in line with the project management body of knowledge (PMBOK).
  • Significant experience in complex construction projects and design activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination with a proven ability to apply modern project management techniques (PMBOK).
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and best practice.
  • Knowledge of water supply and sewerage networks, systems and operation, including treatment processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Icon’s water supply and sewerage standards, relevant codes of practice and industry standards.
