Your new role
Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for driving operational excellence and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality? We have an exciting opportunity for a Field Area Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, your leadership is at the heart of our operations, you will lead and support a highly skilled technical workgroup engaged in field-based activities.
- Lead the team delivering protection, automation, control and communications services in alignment with People Leader Performance Standards, focusing on leadership development and performance.
- Allocate work efficiently to meet project deliverables, ensuring the effective use of resources, including labour, plant, and materials.
- Coordinate emergency response functions and resources during storms, emergencies, or breakdowns.
- Ensure electrical work is completed in accordance with relevant standards, including ESRs, network standards, and technical instructions.
- Conduct regular safety interactions, audits, and inspections, implementing corrective actions to ensure compliance with safety policies.
- Develop and maintain a strong safety culture, focusing on continuous improvement and implementing corporate safety initiatives.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, including addressing customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback.
- Coach and develop direct reports through performance reviews, one-on-one meetings, and applying the performance development framework.

- Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering or electrical trade (or craft certificate) with extensive experience.
- Current Electrical Safety Rules accreditation.
- Class C Driver’s License.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working in the energy industry including well developed understanding of regulatory frameworks, standards, specifications and Electrical Safety Rules.
- Proven knowledge and application of safety management systems.
- Demonstrated experience in the commissioning, maintenance and operation of protection, automation, control and communications schemes.
- Intermediate computer literacy in Microsoft Office and systems.
- Strong organisation, prioritisation and time management skills.
- Recognised analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Highly evident communication skills both written and oral with a customer focus for service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
- Proven high attention to detail, personal initiative and accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality and discretion when dealing with sensitive or personal matters.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and leading teams for improved performance.
