Mechanical Design Engineer
Mobicon Systems is based in Brendale, QLD, and designs and builds unique lightweight straddle carriers for handling shipping containers within the Logistics Industry. (see: www.mobiconsystems.com)
We have machines moving containers for clients around the world, including the likes of the US Navy, Australian Border Force, Fonterra, Linfox, and Mainfreight.
We are always listening to our clients, and designing new models or changing existing ones is a continues process.
We require a Mechanical Engineer who can assist our Senior Engineer in all tasks relating to Designing and Manufacturing of our Straddle Carriers.
The role will include infrequent travel to supplier and client sites in Australia and on occasion overseas. We offer an attractive travel bonus while travelling.
The successful candidate will work in a dynamic environment where a large variety of tasks are shared between the members of a small team. We work a 9-day Fortnite
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- A Mechanical Engineering degree
- Experience with Solidworks (preferred) or Inventor
- Experience with machine design
- Knowledge of electrical/hydraulically driven machinery and PLC control systems
The main tasks of the position will be:
- Designing of new models and variations as guided by our Chief Engineer.
- Continuous improvement of existing models
- Cost reduction by smarter design
- Assisting in choosing the best and most cost-efficient components
- Assisting in Quality control
- Upkeep of manuals and work procedures
- Project management of delivery of our Straddle Carriers to our clients.
