The Internal Communication team is responsible for delivering communication to a 5000-plus workforce on a broad range of topics across multiple channels. It is a small dynamic team focused on developing innovative campaigns that reach all departments and workers.
About your new role
An exciting opportunity to elevate the City’s internal communication offering, connecting and engaging with this broad and diverse workforce. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive internal communication strategy to engage employees, align teams with the City’s strategic priorities, and foster a positive organisational culture in line with our purpose and High-Performance Principles.
You will work closely with stakeholders including senior leadership teams to support the delivery of internal communication and ensure that communication resonates with all staff.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small internal communications team – fostering a collaborative team culture, building capabilities and driving innovation, creativity and best practices in internal communications.
- Develop, plan and deliver an integrated internal communication strategy that drives the City’s strategic priorities, corporate goals and employee engagement through consistent messaging across all communication channels.
- Develop compelling and engaging campaigns for audiences, ensuring consistent messaging and branding across all internal communications channels.
- Manage the planning, communication, and delivery of the CEO Service and Excellence Awards and other CEO initiatives (such as culture/engagement surveys and employee consultation) as required.
- Support executive and leadership communication and engagement, including speeches, presentations, and town halls.
- Proactively manage and implement contemporary and interactive internal communication channels to enhance employee engagement.
- Manage and support crisis communications to ensure timely and transparent messaging during critical events.
- Manage and deliver communications to support the Office of the CEO as required.
- Establish key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives and channels, providing regular reporting and insights to drive continuous improvement.
We're looking for people who have:
- Bachelor of Marketing and Communication or Equivalent Knowledge
- Proven experience in communications, preferably in the public sector or a large organisational setting.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to craft and tailor communications to suit a wide variety of audiences.
- Ability to prioritise competing demands and work to tight deadlines
- Develop strong relationships with stakeholders and provide appropriate advice on internal communications tactics to achieve objectives.
