About Your Role

This role is responsible for leading the development and maintenance of FIIG’s Application Architecture and Guiding Principles including:

  • Design and document FIIG’s Application Architecture and Guiding Principles
  • Engage with business leaders and stakeholders to gather input and review
  • Support the approval and roll out of the Application Architecture and Guiding Principles to relevant staff
  • Ensure that FIIG IT and/ or the technology provider builds to defined architectural principles and best practice

Your daily responsibilities will be;

  • Lead, develop and maintain FIIG’s application architecture including product roadmap, environments management, integration with external partners and reporting patterns in alignment with FIIG’s technology roadmap
  • Develop and review the technology architecture strategies and designs
  • Lead technical evaluations to assess the merits of various solution options against technical requirements, business criteria, and managing trade-offs
  • Work with the business and other IT colleagues to develop designs that meet the business requirements, and can be suitably implemented within the chosen technology
  • Own, investigate, troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in the product suite, including in the production environment to support ‘Business as Usual’ (BAU) activities
  • Mentor application development resources on complex investigations, technical troubleshooting, and customer service best practices
  • Build solid strategic partnerships with Front Office and Back Office staff in order to understand client business needs
  • Stay abreast of changes in the technology landscape and advise FIIG of implementation and change strategies required to take advantage of new development
  • Analyse and prepare recommendations to address any potential problem areas in FIIG’s application architecture as part of a continuous improvement process in consideration of changes in business environment, improvements in scalability, integration to external partners, availability, maintainability, and TCO drivers and operational differentiators
  • Ensure that project and system documentation is produced in a timely manner, is in line with standards, and that requirements are traceable to designs (and vice-versa)
  • Ensure that designs and configuration are documented to the level required, and appropriately reviewed / signed-off
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organisation and with external partners
  • Ensure that activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organisation
  • Provide leadership, direction and feedback to work stream sponsors, leads and staff to ensure the successful delivery of project streams
  • Work effectively with the Program Manager, Program Sponsor and senior leaders in the organisation to ensure reliable and timely delivery of stated project goals
  • Identify and evaluate the implementation risks associated with project activities and take appropriate action to escalate and control the risks

Skills / Systems

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Senior Application developer or Application Architect within a Microsoft .NET environment (including CSS, React / Typescript, C#, .NET, .NET core and JavaScript. Interface / Web Service experience highly desirable)
  • Extensive experience working with third party suppliers (platforms and resources)
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, and experience in using software development tools (including GIT, Microsoft TFS, Visual Studio, MSBuild, and PowerShell)
  • Experience in build and deployment automation and release management (including TeamCity, Octopus Deploy)
  • Proven ability to analyse information and develop appropriate plans and responses
  • Extensive experience with core system implementation and post implementation support
  • Ability to learn new systems and environments rapidly
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and to react positively to shifting priorities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Committed work ethic, and accountability

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Previous experience within the Fixed Income asset class
  • Previous capital markets platform experience with a focus on trading, funds management, settlements and custody
