People and Safety Support Officer Position DescriptionPurpose of the PositionThe People and Safety Support Officer supports HR and Work Health & Safety (WHS) operations under the guidance of the Director of Governance & Information Systems and the People & Safety Coordinator.

Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & OnboardingAssist with recruitment processes, including job postings, interviews, and background checks.Manage employment contracts, onboarding, and induction processes.Training & DevelopmentCoordinate employee training programs and maintain training records.Develop online training modules and ensure certifications are updated.General HR SupportProvide HR advice, coordinate performance reviews, and manage HR records.Assist in employee recognition programs and workplace support initiatives.Corporate Uniforms & ID ManagementOrganize and maintain staff uniforms, PPE, business cards, and ID cards.Return to Work & WHS SupportSupport workers’ compensation claims and rehabilitation processes.Maintain WHS records, update safety notices, and assist in emergency drills.Health & Wellbeing ProgramOrganize activities to promote employee health and wellbeing.Works & Services AdministrationHandle fuel data entry and support contractors with inquiries.Corporate ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with legal and organizational policies.Maintain confidentiality and uphold risk management practices.
Special ConditionsRequires a Tasmanian driver’s license, pre-employment medical check, and National Police Check.
Required Qualifications & SkillsWillingness to obtain Certificate IV in HR or WHS.Strong administrative, communication, and problem-solving skills.Knowledge of HR, WHS principles, and relevant legislation.Experience in document management and workers’ compensation processes.
This is a temporary full-time (2-year) position under the Governance & Information Systems department.
