The Opportunity
An opportunity exists for a highly motivated, experienced and skilled Claims Officer (Property) to join our Claims, Debt Recovery and Insurance Unit, within the People and Corporate Services Division of the Department. The Claims Officer (Property) plays a key role in contributing to the Department’s broad claims recovery directly relating to the department’s assets; providing high quality, effective and accurate claims recovery services and contributing towards effective risk management across the Department.

You will be provided with autonomy and genuine flexibility within a small team, which is focused on providing value-adding services across the Department.

The Claims Officer (Property) is responsible for timely advice and services through the Department’s end-to-end claims recovery process relating to damaged assets. The Claims Officer (Property) is required to liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders, manage enquiries, maintaining records and systems and assists with general office administration tasks related to claims recovery.

About You
We are looking for a Claims Officer (Property) with:

  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience working within a claims portfolio.
  • Effective communication and liaison with a diverse range of people at various levels (both verbally and in writing) including liable parties and insurance companies.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, small-team environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder liaison and relationship management skills.
  • Proven experience in handling difficult situations in a calm, positive and objective manner.
  • Proven ability to manage an active and dynamic portfolio and manage and maintain regular contact with various stakeholders.

Special Conditions
A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

Remuneration
ASO3 - $67,589 to $72,033 pa + superannuation.
