The Patricia Giles Centre for Non-Violence (PGCNV) is one of the leading providers of family and domestic violence services in the Perth metropolitan area. Supporting more than 5,000 Western Australian women and children last year, we provide crisis accommodation facilities and support, women’s and children’s counselling services and outreach programs.
Our reputation is driven by our commitment to providing a high-quality, client-focused, and sustainable service to clients accessing our programs and services.
In addition to the provision of direct response and recovery services, we also provide advocacy, referral information and support to women and their children seeking relief from the impact of domestic violence.
Children’s Counsellor – either full-time or part-time
A unique opportunity exists for a children’s counsellor in either a part-time or a full-time capacity. The children’s counsellor will be part of a team developing and delivering PGCNV’s clinical services across our locations in the northern corridor.
About you
Essential Criteria requiring demonstrated experience in:
- Registration with either AHPRA or AASW, ACA (min level 2) or PACFA
- Counselling experience with children and adolescents
- Understanding of frameworks and evidence-based counselling interventions for children and adolescents
- Experience with providing trauma informed services – FDV experience preferred
- Have an interest or experience in group facilitation
To be successful in this role you also require:
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, to engage with a diverse range of individuals and stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional level of reporting such as case notes, assessments, and support plans
- Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families
- Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care and a commitment to cultural safety and diversity
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make well-informed decisions
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Teams, Powerpoint, Excel) and the ability to adapt to new software and platforms
All positions at PGCNV need to possess:
- National Police Clearance Certificate
- Working with Children Card
- Current ‘C’ Class WA Drivers Licence
