Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a Team Lead – Mechanical to join our Resources and Materials Engineering group.
Resource and Materials Engineering WA is a leading multi-disciplinary Resource Engineering group in Perth, known for its dynamic projects in the Mining and Energy sectors, made possible by GHD's diversity and strategic Tier 1 client relationships. This represents an opportunity to engage in projects spanning Process and NPI across a wide range of commodities like iron ore, gold, lithium, and bauxite, as well as Future Energy and Renewables endeavors like wind, solar, hydrogen, and power transmission.
As a key member of the leadership team within the Resources and Materials business group, you'll work directly with the Business Group Leader to drive the success of a high-performing team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the day-to-day operations, ensuring that key objectives are consistently met, and building team capability across technical delivery, project execution, and client outcomes. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Assist the Business Group Leader to secure, schedule and manage workload across own team.
- Work with Business Group Leader to develop the annual Business Plan for the group; Identify major short and long-term project opportunities and coordinate campaigns to win these projects on a sustainable basis.
- Maintain and promote a safe working environment and wellbeing culture within the team in line with HSE policies and guidelines.
- Provide a positive influence and motivation around key engagement plans and change management initiatives.
- Support, develop and coach members of the team with Resources Practice Leaders (PL) and Emerging Professionals (EP) Leader around technical delivery, performance and client service – targeted to individual strengths and team needs.
- Lead by example on GHD's Quality, HSE and IMS compliance standards.
- Define the scope of resource projects, design technical solutions, and lead project / design teams to deliver those solutions to meet the needs of our clients.
- Act as Project Manager for multi-disciplinary, large-scale projects, responsible for project documentation (scope of work etc.) and managing client interactions, or as Project Director on smaller projects.
- Lead the development and submission of proposals and manage resource allocation.
- Act as a trusted advisor to a variety of clients, actively contributing to industry thought leadership.
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related field and appropriate professional qualifications and accreditation suited to the discipline being managed.
- Eligible for membership with Engineer’s Australia at Chartered Professional Engineer level.
- Proven client network in the Resources industry to gauge and develop opportunities.
- Proven experience in the technical leadership and management of multi-disciplinary, complex engineering projects, registered/licensed/chartered Engineer.
- Previous experience managing a high performing team would be advantageous.
- A valid driver's licence.
- Relevant on-site credentials.
