ABOUT THE ROLE
Location: Epping
This position supports the Operations Manager in driving the operational and strategic goals through maintaining effective QA practices as well as maintaining a safe and healthy working environment in all activities for workers, contractors, suppliers, and all other persons working in or visiting our places of work.
ABOUT YOU
- Strong knowledge of the workplace, health and safety legislation, with the ability to interpret relevant legislation
- Experience in conducting operational risk assessments
- Experience in managing workers compensation claims, injury management and return to work programs
- Experience in partnering with operational Leaders to drive and maintain a strong safety culture
- Strong understanding and implementation of safety procedures product safety, quality and legality issues
YOUR RESPONSILBITIES
Quality
- In consultation with the Operations Manager, ensure Epping complies with the legislative and operational requirements of the relevant Federal, State and Local Government Acts and requirements regarding Food Safety including liaising, and co-operating with the various associated agencies
- Ensure that statutory checks and audits are undertaken in accordance with internal and external regulatory compliance requirements, including undertaking periodic quality system audits and leading management reviews of the quality system, measuring program effectiveness, identifying corrective actions and ensuring their implementation
- Provide advice and input into appropriate quality control techniques, processes and practices
- Conduct investigations into quality issues as they arise, identifying corrective action to minimise impact
- Determine and manage quality losses and compliance breaches, assisting the team
- Managers/Supervisors to rectify/identifying when escalation or external notification process must be followed, in consultation with Operations Manager
Safety
- Build strong internal relationships to actively reinforce and promote best practice in safety
- Develop safety functioning skills within the leadership team and broader work group
- Safety Leadership training, coaching and mentoring.
- Monitor, evaluate and recommend improvements to the safety system
- Monitor all incidents raised in the safety reporting system and provide coaching and support where required to improve safety functioning skills in raising incident reports
- Encourage the prompt reporting of incidents and hazards
- Work with the site to ensure that corrective actions are closed out in a timely manner
- Monitor compliance with workplace policies and procedures through conducting formal and informal internal audits, including audits of external contractors
- Develop and document procedures, safe work method statements and job safety analysis
TO BE SUCCESSFUL
You will bring with you:
- 5 years’ plus experience in a similar role
- Qualifications in QA/Safety or related disciplines
- Accredited in workplace training qualifications is desirable
- Strong knowledge of the workplace, health and safety legislation, with the ability to interpret relevant legislation
- Experience in conducting operational risk assessments
- Experience in managing workers compensation claims, injury management and return to work programs
- Experience in partnering with operational Leaders to drive and maintain a strong safety culture
