The services required will enable the agency to supplement its existing ICT and digital workforce to ensure a high quality of technology and digital development for the Buyer with the flexibility to ramp resourcing up and down as needs require. Engaging a flexible ICT workforce will enable the Buyer to augment its requirements for the major work programs being undertaken.
Services Australia is seeking at least one Test Analyst to determine and then carry out testing activities to validate the design and behaviour of systems and services. Test Analysts will ensure that their test effort is effectively executed and that allocated activities are completed in a structured, consistent manner in accordance with agreed test guidelines. They will use their in-depth knowledge to provide technical advice and development to less experienced testers and work under the general direction and support of senior staff. They exercise a degree of independent judgement and make decisions within defined parameters that require reliance on skills and knowledge and plan their own work and contribute to teamwork goals in the context of competing priorities, and changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.
Key duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Execute assigned test cases at various stages of testing on appropriate testing platforms
- Develop test plans, test cases, task cards, and supporting test data and/or requirements, under own direction from the specifications provided
- Analyse and report on test activities and results, and escalate issues and risks to senior staff
- Contribute to team improvement initiatives and projects, including team tools, process changes, and test automation
- Identify, manage and document defects, programming errors and operational characteristics that are inconsistent with stated requirements and design specifications
- Conduct testing to ensure the ICT service functions as per requirements
- Create test data within external software vendor environment
- Accurately record time and effort for test cases
- Allocate work to team members, using judgement to match issue complexity and staff capability Test Engineer
- Provide assistance and training to less experienced testers
- Support team to follow business processes and align to overall delivery outcomes
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICT related legislation, policy and processes and transfer knowledge to other team members
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective and timely implementation of projects
- Provide advice and assistance to external software vendors in regard to testing and development of software
- Assist with cost analysis activities as required
Essential Criteria
- Acceptance testing: Level 4 (SFIA)
Develops acceptance criteria related to functional and non-functional requirements, business processes, features, user stories and business rules. Designs, specifies and executes test cases and scenarios to test that systems, products and services fulfil the acceptance criteria and deliver the predicted business benefits. Collaborates with project colleagues and stakeholders involved in the analysis, development and operation of products, systems or services to ensure accuracy and comprehensive test coverage. Analyses and reports on test activities, results, issues and risks including the work of others. - Methods and tools: Level 4 (SFIA)
Provides advice and guidance to support the adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards. Tailors processes in line with agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools. Reviews and improves usage and application of methods and tools. - Testing: Level 4 (SFIA)
Selects appropriate testing approach, including manual and automated testing. Develops and executes test plans and test cases. Implements scalable and reliable automated tests and frameworks. Collaborates across parties involved in product, systems or service design and development to enable comprehensive test coverage. Identifies improvements in requirements, design or specification processes to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of testing. Analyses and reports on test activities, results, issues and risks, including the work of others. - User experience evaluation: Level 3 (SFIA)
Evaluates design options and prototypes to obtain user feedback on requirements of developing systems, products, services or devices. Tests the usability and accessibility of components and alternative designs. Administers a range of evaluations, recording data and feedback. Analyses evaluation data and recommends actions. Identifies areas for future user research. Checks systems, products, services or devices for adherence to applicable standards, guidelines, style guides, and legislation. Evaluates the usability of existing or competitor systems to provide benchmark values and as input to design.
