The Role
As part of their continued growth and success, this fantastic organisation is looking for a Payroll & Accounts Specialist to join their team on a part-time basis (0.6 FTE). In this role you will work with key stakeholders within the business such as Financial Controller, P&C Manager, Outsourced Payroll Provider and other Managers within the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of payroll, including audits, payment processing, and reconciliation of payroll accounts.
- Act as the primary contact for the outsourced payroll provider, ensuring compliance with tax and superannuation requirements.
- Oversee the administration of employee benefits and respond to employee payroll queries.
- Support audits and provide payroll expertise during mergers and acquisitions.
- Ensure payroll activities comply with relevant legislative requirements in both Australia and New Zealand
- New Zealand payroll knowledge and experience is essential
- Conduct pre-close audits of payroll prepared by the outsourced payroll provider and process payments.
- Address employee queries regarding pay, deductions, taxes, superannuation, and other payroll-related matters.
- Manage relationships with outsourced payroll providers and MYOB.
- Prepare payroll tax reports and submit PAYG returns via the ATO portal.
- Ensure accurate calculation and timely payment of Superannuation Guarantee (SG) contributions for sole traders in compliance with relevant laws.
- Perform regular reconciliations of payroll-related accounts, including tax, superannuation, and other deductions.
- Administer employee benefits such as novated leasing agreements and various deductions.
- Provide payroll advisory support during M&A activity and integration processes, as the company continues to grow.
- Assist with external audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and laws in both Australia and New Zealand.
- Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment by complying with all relevant policies and procedures.
- Proven experience with both Australian and New Zealand payroll.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, including tax, superannuation, and statutory requirements.
- Experience working with outsourced payroll providers (in Australia and New Zealand).
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel for reporting and reconciliation.
- Ability to handle employee payroll queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
