Boreman – Full-Time North Queensland
Our client is seeking an experienced Boreman to join their team, playing a critical role in ensuring a reliable water supply for a large cattle operation. This position requires working across an extensive 1.4 million-acre property located North East of Normanton alongside 1-2 other Boremen.
About the Role The Boreman will be responsible for maintaining and servicing water infrastructure to ensure the cattle herd has sufficient water at all times. This role requires mechanical knowledge, previous experience in a similar position, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and service diesel & petrol engines, mono pumps, fire fighter pumps, and NS100 rotary pumps
- Diagnose and repair major engine issues on-site or in the workshop
- Operate and maintain a work vehicle and safely use the vehicle-mounted crane
- Understand and navigate using Avenza and paper maps
- Handle and fit irrigation-sized poly fittings and belts
- Lift and transport heavy equipment as required
- Work closely with the station manager and provide daily reports
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential
- Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair equipment
- Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy items and starting crank-handle engines
- Basic understanding of livestock husbandry and water infrastructure
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions
- Seasonal role: April to December (weather dependent)
- Work 6-7 days a week with scheduled days off for rodeos
- Work vehicle provided
- Single, ensuite accommodation, all meals, and Wi-Fi included
- Own tools required (poly spanners, sockets, spanners, and screwdrivers)
- Not suitable for working holiday visa holders
