This role is a 3month contract opportunity with the goal to evolve into a permanent full-time position, depending on future project opportunities with our clients. Your first project would involve supporting the Department of Health and Aged Care’s Human-Centred Design (HCD) team.

About the first project:

The HCD ICC Project is seeking two experienced Service Designers with a strong foundation in user research to join our team. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in designing human-centred services and solutions to support aged care policies. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure services align with policy intent and user needs.

We are looking for candidates with a T-shaped skillset, demonstrating deep expertise in service design and user research, alongside a broad capability across communication, research, change, and strategy.


Responsibilities:

  • Design the end-to-end Microsoft 365 journey, ensuring alignment with policy intent and user goals.

  • Develop service blueprints that outline systems, roles, processes, and interactions required to deliver services effectively.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and enhance digital transactions, products, and content.

  • Conduct user research to identify and validate user pain points and critical needs, contributing to service improvements.

  • Explain and advise on design decisions, ensuring transparency and stakeholder alignment.

  • Facilitate workshops and discussions to drive meaningful outcomes and service improvements.

  • Advocate for best practices in user-centred design (UCD), accessibility, and usability.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Service Design & UX Expertise: Ability to develop intuitive, accessible, and user-friendly service experiences.

  • Design Thinking: Proficiency in applying design thinking principles to service development.

  • Research & Analysis: Strong ability to conduct user research, analyse findings, and translate insights into actionable design improvements.

  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Proven experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and engaging with diverse stakeholders.

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools and other digital platforms.

  • Agile Experience: Track record of working in agile project environments.

  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex ideas effectively.

Desirable UX Skills
  • Proficiency in tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.

  • Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups to visualise user flows and interactions.

  • Experience conducting usability testing and iterating based on feedback.

  • Ensuring consistency and accessibility across digital products and platforms.


Qualifications
  • Relevant certifications in Service Design, UX Design, Human-Centred Design, or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in human-centred design (HCD) and service design.

Residency & Clearance:

  • Must be an Australian citizen
  • Hold a current Baseline Clearance due to NPP input
