Talenza are looking for a FinCrime SME for a leading bank in Sydney!

The Consumer Financial Crime (FC) Team plays a critical role in supporting the Consumer Banking business by helping to manage financial crime risk. They ensure the division maintains compliance with financial crime obligations, while enabling change to strengthen the control environment. As part of the first-line FC Advisory team, this role acts as a key link between FC Advisory and transformation teams, managing the financial crime initiatives and ensuring alignment with the broader Consumer FC roadmap.

As the Product Owner , you'll be responsible for ensuring the right initiatives are prioritised and delivered to meet Group KYC and Tax (FATCA/CRS) obligations. While delivery teams focus on execution, you'll ensure the work meets regulatory and customer needs. You'll also champion a strong risk culture that balances regulatory requirements with customer experience and ethical integrity.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead program outcomes and provide financial crime subject matter expertise to transformation teams.
  • Represent Consumer Financial Crime in engagements with divisional and Group FC transformation teams.
  • Work closely with Consumer FC project teams, participating in key program activities such as PI planning, retrospectives, and reviews.
  • Oversee project risks and control gaps, supporting effective solutions that meet the division's financial crime risk appetite.
  • Manage project initiative prioritisation and maintain ownership of the Consumer FC backlog.
  • Collaborate with advisory team members to translate business-as-usual (BAU) issues into structured programs of work.
  • Review policy changes to identify and manage their impact on ongoing and future projects.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • 12+ years of experience in the financial services industry.
  • 5+ years working within large, complex organisations, engaging with senior stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of expertise in financial crime (AML/CTF/KYC), FATCA, and CRS.
  • Previous experience as a Product Owner in a financial crime transformation environment is preferred.
  • Strong stakeholder management, balancing multiple priorities and viewpoints.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
