Opportunity
6-month hourly rate contract + 6-month option to extend for a talented Cloud Infrastructure Architect to drive the on-prem to Azure Cloud migration for a Federal Agency. Melbourne CBD Based. 40 hour week. Flexible work arrangements on offer and a market rate.
Role
The Cloud Infrastructure Architect will design, implement and evolve the infrastructure (on-premise and/or cloud). You will join the Enterprise Architecture practice to help drive the transition to a “Cloud First” organisation. Define the roadmap for the Agensy’s transition to Cloud and provide technical oversight and leadership from inception to delivery. Identify and mitigate key challenges based on your deep experience in leading cloud migrations in government (state or federal).
Work closely with your Architecture peers to analyse business strategy, trends and change to derive the future state technology architecture roadmap and provide Cloud Domain expertise. This includes defining the requirements, principles and models that guide technology decisions for the enterprise. Maintain in-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies and provide specialist advice to the ELT.
Responsibilities
Define the infrastructure strategy and roadmap, in particular the cloud migration plan away from on-premise data centresDefining a cloud-based backup and disaster recovery roadmap (Cloud DR)Advise on the transition of legacy corporate systems and applications to the cloud Maintain the enterprise infrastructure reference architectureDevelop and maintain Infrastructure security architecture artifacts (e.g., models, templates, standards and procedures) that can be used to leverage security capabilities in projects and operationsPrepare specifications for procurement of IT infrastructure products and services and be involved in procurement, RFx and vendor evaluation and onboardingEnsure that solution architecture is fit-for-purpose, scalable and secureCoordinate with and advise projects to ensure strategic alignment with the infrastructure and cloud roadmap
Requirements
7-10+ years in Infrastructure and Cloud ArchitectureDemonstrated experience in leading an organisation’s migration to cloud from on-prem, ideally in state or federal governmentDeep knowledge and experience within the Microsoft Cloud – Microsoft Azure, “Azure Well-Architected Framework”, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS technologies, Azure Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, System Center Suite, Security technologies including Microsoft Sentinel and Defender, enterprise backup and disaster recovery platformsDemonstrated ability to engage with stakeholdersCommunication skills; demonstrating an ability to communicate at the technical and business level and present to Architecture Forums and ELT to C’ suite.Tertiary qualifications in an ICT related field or applicable industry certifications in architecture and MS Cloud (eg TOGAF)
