DJCS Emergency Management
Emergency Management, within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (the Department) works closely with government and agencies across the emergency management portfolio. The group is led by the Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management. Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities and statutory entities and offices.
Office of the Deputy Secretary
The Office of the Deputy Secretary provides executive support to the Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management, including high-level advice, secretarial and administrative support to ensure the effective day-to-day running of the Emergency Management. The team provides high-level authoritative strategic advice to the Deputy Secretary on complex and sensitive matters.
About the Role The Senior Strategic Adviser to the Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management provide a high-level authoritative advice to the Deputy Secretary, fosters a network of strong relationships with stakeholders, contributes to the strategic planning process for the Deputy Secretary's Office and must keep abreast of current issues and risks that impact the portfolio and be able to respond and advise in a useful manner.
Duties will include:
* Provide comprehensive and authoritative advice to the Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management on complex and sensitive matters, planning, risk, reporting, assurance, performance reporting, compliance, project oversight, recruitment and information management.
* Develop high-quality presentations at short notice and undertake projects as required in respect to complex, sensitive and confidential issues, including making recommendations and helping identify solutions to issues and problems.
* Project manage and support the implementation of the group's transformation projects.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Demonstrated knowledge of Victoria's emergency management arrangements.
* An understanding of the structure and responsibilities of the Department of Justice and Community Safety and, more broadly, the Victorian Government.
* Experience in monitoring performance of service systems and developing performance measures and use of performance data.
* Experience working at a senior level supporting ministerial and departmental executive functions and Parliamentary and departmental processes
