The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Prison Services Manager to provide a critical role at the Metropolitan Remand Centre.
About the Business Unit
Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a maximum-security remand facility based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Prisoners on remand are alleged offenders who were not bailed when charged with a crime and are awaiting the outcome of their court case.
The Metropolitan Remand Centre is a 954-bed maximum-security facility for unsentenced male offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice, and Community Safety.
About the Role
The Prison Services Manager is directly responsible for all critical services related to the Metropolitan Remand Centre's achievement of budget, resource management, human resources and staffing, stores, accounts payable, purchasing, property, records and infrastructure. This position also plays a strong leadership role on the prison's Leadership team, supporting the General Manager, Metropolitan Remand Centre with shaping and delivering the prison's annual business plan.
This position may require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work.
Some of your duties will include:
* Lead and motivate diverse functional teams responsible for in-prison planning, budget, financial management, human resources, training, stores, accounts, purchasing and prisoner services including records and property.
* Manage the effective strategic planning and delivery of corporate and business support services including playing a critical leadership role in the delivery of outcomes associated with the Cultural Review recommendations.
* Manage a significant budget for the location ensuring that key savings initiatives and strategies are developed and implemented to ensure the budget is delivered in the most effective and efficient way. This includes undertaking strategic budget and financial analysis for the location and the provision of high-level expert advice and correspondence to the General Manager.

* Knowledge of the Victorian Public Service Purchasing Framework and procurement.
Qualifications
* Qualifications in finance or business management or human resources is desirable but not mandatory.
