About You:
- A certified Machinist with People Leadership experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of Value Improvement Process (Lean).
- Competent on conventional machines and knowledge of CNC machines.
- Experienced with machine shop practices, maintenance and equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to accurately use precision measuring tools.
- Understand and implement surface finish standards.
- Strong understanding of the English language and ability to read and interpret drawings.
- Demonstrate effective leadership skills, the ability to provide visible leadership and lead by example.
- Understand our customers and have strong desire to satisfy or exceed customer expectations.
- High attention to detail with organisational, time management skills and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative with the ability to work well with others.
- Provide day-to-day supervision of machine shop employees to ensure that the shop is running safely, efficiently and effectively.
- Create and maintain an engaged, positive and inclusive teamwork environment.
- Ensure safe work practices and conditions and identify and manage hazards and risks.
- Identify, recommend and provide solutions to quality problems through the designated channels.
- Reduce set up time and machining time through process improvements.
- Conduct skill gaps analysis and schedule training and development opportunities.
- Evaluate employee performance through the review of completed work assignments.
- Conduct Toolbox Talks to uplift capability, learning and awareness for team.
- Ensures proper employee relations and conditions of employment are maintained.
- Plan, organise and prioritise work & liaise with other departments as needed to ensure production is at peak performance.
- Coordinate and monitor the activities of the Machinists to ensure quality and compliance.
- Set up and adjustment of machines.
- Verify dimensions of machined parts using precision measuring instruments.
- Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.
- Inspection of sub-contract, various materials and hardness.
- Responsible for finished Component Dimensions.
- Assist Machinists as required.
- Maintain all machine shop repair and maintenance records.
- Investigates and reports on audit findings, conformance to specification and production issues.
- Responsible for tracking the financial impacts of projects.
- Generate production reports to the Production Manager on shop and machine performance.
- Certify Machinists work to ensure the quality standards are met.
- Ensure accurate use of time and attendance.
- Conduct interview process of new hires when required.
- GOALS and Performance Development Plans are developed and maintained for team members.
