About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced production fitter for an immediate start to join our dynamic team within the food industry 5 days a week on afternoon shift. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys a challenging work environment, has strong problem-solving skills, and can perform a variety of mechanical tasks. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team are essential for this role. We are looking for someone who is motivated and dependable.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment such as fillers, labellers, case packers and palletisers.
• Operate and maintain lathes, mills, grinders, and other machining tools to fabricate and repair machine parts.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and find solutions to minimize downtime in production.
• Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team and production staff to ensure machinery is operating at optimal levels.
• Assist in continuous improvement initiatives for enhanced efficiency and safety.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and maintain records of completed work.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Proven experience as a fitter/machinist, in the food or manufacturing industry, with corresponding trade qualification/certificate.
• Proficiency in the use of lathes, milling machines, and other machining tools including TIG welding.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
• Willingness to take on new challenges and learn continuously.
