K92 Mining Limited are the owners the high-grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province. Since commencing operations in 2016, we have delivered consistent production growth. About the role
As part of the technical services team and reporting to the Mine Superintendent, the primary purpose of this position is to provide short term mine engineering support to our operation as we encounter a period of significant growth. In this role, you will manage day-to-day mine activities underground, mentor nationals and grow your career as our output more than doubles in the next three years.
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinate and drive mine production activities as required (Daily / Weekly / Monthly) mine plans and reports to enable the business to meet its objectives in terms of production and cost.
- Effective communication of all engineering plans and schedules to the underground workforce.
- Mentor junior national engineers in drill & blast, ventilation, dewatering, backfilling and production processes.
- Regular review of established processes and standards to maximise economic profit for the operation
- Coordinate the scheduling of the UG mobile equipment fleet: Jumbos, loaders, trucks, longhole drill, diamond drill, raisebore.
- Ensure QAQC of explosives charging practices. Establishes schedules for drill and blast barging for the underground mining at K92 Mining.
- Monitor the performance of any contractors involved in these activities.
- Reviews with other engineering specialist, mining production targets and ore specifications and liaises with process personnel accordingly.
About You
Qualifications & Experience
- To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have a tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering with a strong production focus
- 6 years plus of underground hard rock mining experience
- Experienced with Deswik 3D modelling software – essential
- Ability to analyze numerical and geographical data.
- Well-developed planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent trouble shooting skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
