We have exciting opportunities for analysts with a passion for energy to join our dynamic and critical teams in Settlements and Prudentials. You will contribute to the successful, prudent financial management and ongoing development of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and east-coast gas markets. Roles are available at Analyst and Senior Analyst level depending on experience.
You will get a broad exposure to how our markets work and a deep understanding of their intricacies and complexities. You will have the opportunity to grow, excel and develop rapidly in a friendly, diverse and dynamic team who are driven to succeed.

What You Will Be Doing
- Responsible for core operational settlement and prudential activities across the energy markets operated by AEMO, ensuring ongoing compliance with rules and procedures and maintaining business process documentation.
- Undertake complex quantitative and qualitative analysis of financial and market data to inform decision making and improve transparency.
- Identify, manage and resolve issues that impact efficient and effective operations.
- Contribute subject matter expertise to market design activities and IT projects that evolve the market.
- Facilitating new IT functionality by assisting in the preparation of business requirements and implementation into production systems.
- At more senior levels, you will lead strategic market enhancement, market analysis or process improvement projects. Using your leadership skills, you will mentor and coach team members to drive operational excellence and assist in the day to day management of the team. You will work under minimal supervision to solve complex operational issues and drive change.
- Passion for energy with an understanding of the energy sector. Senior Analysts should have a detailed understanding of the changes the energy sector and how these affect AEMO.
- At least 3 years’ (Analyst) or 6 years’ (Senior Analyst) experience in an analytical role in the energy, financial or similar industries.
- Degree in economics, computing, commerce, engineering, science or a related discipline.
- Dedicated to self-improvement and an effective team player.
- Excellent analysis skills and Excel capability. Familiarity working with databases, SQL and VBA will be viewed favourably. Senior Analysts should have proven experience providing quality, often complex qualitative and quantitative analysis to inform decision making.
- High attention to detail, coupled with an ability to meet deadlines and prioritise multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
