Description:
- Maintain high level of taxation and compliance knowledge (with an emphasis on Australian tax and international tax issues).
- Research tax matters as required within Australia, PNG and other Asia Pacific countries.
- Field and manage queries raised by the tax authorities.
- Attend conference calls with APAC Finance team representatives to discuss and resolve issues.
- Prepare detailed quarterly tax update memos for management and shareholders.
- Ensure all tax filings for Australia (Income Tax, Withholding Taxes, Goods and Services Tax and others) and monthly reconciliations are completed to timely and quality standards.
- Manage the income tax accounting requirements of the Australian Group in accordance with IFRS 12 and complete monthly and annual tax effect accounting calculations; liaise with external auditors and with shareholder representatives in relation to statutory and group tax reporting.
- Control SOX compliance and reporting program.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements, automation, or technology solutions to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance end user experience.
Requirements:
A successful Tax Lead should have:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in tax reporting and compliance
- Experience working with a multinational would be highly desirable
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Mining experience would be preferential
