BOILERMAKER WORKSHOP SUPERVISOR

This is a residential job based in Kalgoorlie. Do not apply if you want FIFO work.

Overall responsibility is to supervise boilermaker / fabrication operations in the workshop and co-ordinate site works to complete jobs:

• safely;
• efficiently (meet quoted targets); and
• to meet or exceed customer quality and time expectations.

Starting rate $65 per hour with a flexible roster and 4 weeks annual leave. Familiarity with boilermaking and fabrication is essential. However, your qualifications could be in mechanical fitting.

Responsibilities will include:

• Ensure a safe work environment and promote safe work practices in the workshop
• Work with Workshop Manager to maintain the work allocation plan.
• Provide clear instructions to employees on how to undertake jobs.
• Monitor jobs to ensure quality control.
• Coach and support employees to develop as boilermakers while building their confidence.
• Maintain a team culture in the workshop.
• Plan ahead to ensure materials, consumables, equipment and PPE are available to maintain efficient work-flow.
• Ensure all plant and equipment is properly serviced and maintained.
• Maintain minimum stock level holdings of consumables for the workshop.
• Build and maintain good relationships with customers.
• Manage employee performance including day to day and formal performance reviews

Applicants must have:

1. Current drivers license
2. Extensive Boilermaker experience in heavy mobile equipment and general fabrication.
3. Effective people skills to be able to gain respect of tradesmen while being able to manage poor performance.
4. Ability to learn and implement new knowledge.

Other attributes that will be valued include:

1. Ability to identify and implement improvements to work processes and the workshop environment
2. Current MR truck license
3. Crane/Rigging license
4. Forklift ticket
5. Understanding of confined space safe work practices
6. Good mechanical aptitude.
