Description:
Boccia is a unique sport, specifically designed to include people with significant physical impairments including the most severely affected. Boccia was originally played by athletes with cerebral palsy but now includes athletes with other impairments that affect motor skills. The sport is contested at national and international levels, having made its Paralympic debut in 1984. Most recently, it celebrated success with two silver medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Performance Analyst is responsible for collecting, analysing and interpreting data to provide actionable insights aimed at improving athlete performance to meet HP strategic outcomes. This position will work closely with the High-Performance Coach, athletes and ramp operators as well as other key stakeholders within the performance pathway.
This is a part-time 0.6FTE position contracted until 31 December 2026.
Key Responsibilities of this role will include : (please review the attached position description for full details)
- Support Boccia Australia coaches and athletes in enhancing review and preparation processes through the provision of comprehensive performance analysis pre, during and post competition
- Video capture, editing and analysis to support the creation of key opponent profiles, reviewing the performance of our athletes and supporting the HP Coach in training design
- Integrate relevant technology to enhance skill development and provide athletes and coaches with meaningful, data-informed feedback
- In collaboration with the HP Coach and talent development coaches, implement varied feedback opportunities, such as video reviews and structured one-on-one feedback sessions to support athlete development
- Collect, organize, and maintain performance data from training sessions, competitions, testing events and other relevant sources
- Development and evolution of key opponent profiles including the collection of results and video from live streams at international events where our key opponents are competing across all classifications
- Implement and oversee data collection protocols
- Refining and re-innovating the technological and analytical systems that have been set up to give our athletes a competitive edge
- In collaboration with the HP Program team, utilise analysis to best inform key documents
- Generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations (eg Tableau) that highlight insights for internal / external stakeholders
- Provide education and training on use of performance analytic platforms and data sets
- Stay informed on industry trends, advancements, and best practices in sports analytics
- Stay current with emerging technologies in sports analytics, performance tracking, and data visualization

Essential Requirements
- Human Movement / Coaching / Exercise / Sports Science Degree
- Undergraduate degree in sports science or analysis related field
- 2+ years’ experience working in a Performance Analysis role in a high-performance environment is desirable
- Demonstrable experience in the provision and application of performance analysis services in a fast-paced, time-sensitive competition environment
- Demonstrable success working with staff, athletes and other service providers collaboratively as part of a high performing team. Excellent and effective communication skills are essential
- Knowledge of technical expertise in the maintenance, technical operation and related procedures/protocols of a variety of sport science equipment for video capture and editing purposes
- Proven ability to analyse, interpret, summarise and communicate relevant data/results including performance analysis reports to athletes and coaches for improved performance
- Proficiency in MS Office and database management
- Proficiency in sports performance software is essential (e.g. SportsCode, Hudl)
- Ability to work autonomously to a high standard
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of programming languages
- Experience utilising Tableau or other data visualisation tools desirable
- Experience facilitating learning environment design/application of skill acquisition principles
