The Opportunity
The Land Management Officer - Western Grassland Reserve is responsible for assisting Council and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) to deliver the Western Grassland Reserve Interim Management Partnership. This program aims to protect and enhance habitat and biodiversity values within the Western Grassland Reserve Public Acquisition Overlay and Conservation Areas.
Reporting to the Coordinator Environmental Services, you will work with landowners and administer works via the landowner grants program to improve biodiversity outcomes in these important grassland ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop relationships and work collaboratively with landholders in the Western Grassland Reserve Public Acquisition Overlay area and Conservation Areas to plan environmental works and improve biodiversity outcomes.Provide technical advice to landowners, assist them to develop works plans and organise works through the Interim Management Program grants program for improved biodiversity outcomes. Administer, monitor and report on the Western Grassland Reserve Interim Management Partnership to meet DEECA funding requirements. Participate in and deliver community engagement / education activities which promote sustainable land management practices.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in a field related to conservation and land management.Native vegetation and sustainable land management knowledge and skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence, negotiate and gain cooperation from community members with diverse backgrounds.Project management skills and ability to write reports, manage budgets and manage contractors.Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence with 4WD training or experience.
