About the role

The city is seeking to employ an experienced Recreation Officer to join the City Spaces Team. The successful candidate will be part of a team providing high quality community programs and services and effectively managing community facilities. You may be required to work evening shifts and weekends.

You will actively provide and facilitate a range of recreational social activities and support services for the local City of Sydney community. You will facilitate recreational programs that respond to priority needs of the City of Sydney community. You will also be required to deliver and create fitness related programs and classes, and at times will be required to create individual programs for active members of our gym.


You will have excellent customer service skills and experience in delivering community programs, along with an understanding of community development issues. You will also have experience in event or project management, including planning, implementation, and evaluation with excellent organisational, written and communication skills. Experience in facility operations will be highly regarded.

You will need to be available for the following weekly shifts:

Mon: 6:45am to 2:30pm

Tues: 8:45am to 6pm

Wed: 6:45am to 2:30pm

Thurs: 8:45am to 4:30pm

Fri: 6:45am to 1pm

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
