Australian Communications and Media Authority

Description:

At eSafety, we are pioneers in online safety regulation, leading global efforts to combat digital harms and foster safer, more positive online experiences for all Australians.

Our mission is bold and far-reaching.

eSafety's Children, Youth and Families (CYF) Team develops and delivers online safety initiatives and engagement strategies for children, young people and families. The team develops and updates web-based resources and advice, ensuring that current and new advice considers emerging areas of need. It also incorporates consultation and evidence on how best to engage with target audiences.

The CYF team is responsible for specific programs for children, young people and families, including:

  • The Families Capacity Building project which supports parents/carers and child and family sector professionals to prevent child sexual abuse online.
  • The Children and Tech-based Abuse project for children impacted by technology abuse occurring in a range of settings.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Parent strategy, focusing on stakeholder engagement, education and prevention to empower parents and carers to support children and young people with awareness of online safety issues, preventing risks and dealing with harms. This will require working closely with the Children, Youth and Families (CYF) team, across the Education, Prevention and Inclusion (EPI) Branch and eSafety more broadly.

We are seeking a highly experienced Parent Advisor who is:

  • Dedicated to eSafety’s mission of keeping all Australians safer online.
  • Experienced in developing and implementing programs or strategies, including effective planning and project management, building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, leading the development of evidence-based content for diverse audiences, and program evaluation.
  • Experienced in the development and delivery of resources/guidance particularly to support parents and carers and understands how to best engage and support them.
  • Able to determine the strategic direction for the work area and align with longer-term planning and agency goals and objectives.
  • Understanding of how technology can be misused to cause harm and an interest in online safety issues facing Australians, particularly parents and their families. This includes the intersectional nature of online risks.
  • Accountable and has a high level of personal drive, with the ability to work collaboratively and lead others to achieve shared goals.
  • Flexible in their mindset and adept at identifying and weighing potential solutions to problems as they arise.

To be eligible for employment with eSafety, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
