ABOUT THE ROLE
The core purpose of the Disability Inclusion Participation Coordinator position is to grow participation rates of people with a disability and ensure inclusion through a professional and consistent delivery of AFL’s core programs (Auskick, Superkick, Nines, Community Football and Schools) across Queensland.
Through bestâin class delivery, this role will ensure the highestâquality customer experience across all football and fan engagement programs.
Our goal at the AFL is to progress the game so that everyone can share in its heritage and possibilities, and this role truly contributes to this goal.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities:
- Organise and deliver a variety of AFL programs in either school, before/afterâschool, or community club environments, via annual program and delivery centre mapping.
- Provide guidance, development and formal reviews of disability inclusion participation in Queensland.
- Coordinate the delivery of new and existing state-based competitions towards modified versions of AFL with a focus on AFL Wheelchair, AFL Blind, AFL Deaf and Hard of Hearing and AFL Inclusion.
- Support the delivery of State representative teams at National AFL competitions.
- Work collaboratively with the National AFL teams including the National Inclusion Team to continue to develop modified AFL pathways and to support the inclusiveness of AFL’s core programs (Auskick, Superkick etc).
- Drive awareness for disability inclusion programs and competitions in collaboration with the broader participation team.
- Build relationships and partnerships with relevant external partners and communities, to support the growth of disability inclusion football in Queensland.
- Support and contribute to the success of the broader team.
OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER
Core Competencies:
- Previous experience of working within the disability sector, including interacting and working with people who have a diverse range of disabilities
- Experience running and overseeing disability programs, preferably within disability sports programs.
- Experience in or an understanding of competition management.
- An ability to inclusively and effectively communicate with people of all abilities.
- Demonstrated experience in partnering with and influencing a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including people with disabilities.
- Influential leadership and relationship management across a geographically diverse team.
- Able to innovate, provide feedback and manage change to progress the game for people with disabilities and the wider community.
