Total potential earnings: $149,500 – $157,500 (Salary + Allowances + Remote Travel Allowance) plus additional benefits detailed below:

  • Competitive Salary : Annual salary ranging from $142,000 to $150,000, including various allowances and additional work/on-call allowances.
  • Additional Work/On-call Allowance : This allowance makes up $30,000 of your salary in compensation for after-hours on-call and call-out duties.
  • Remote Travel Allowance : Receive $7,500 per year, paid over fortnightly instalments.
  • Save on tax with Salary Sacrificing : The option to Salary sacrifice of up to approximately $16,000 per year.
  • Accommodation : You will be provided with fully furnished staff accommodation, and we subsidise the utility fees, resulting in a comfortable and cost-effective living arrangement (a nominal $30 per bedroom per fortnight).
  • Program Leave : Unique 6-week continuous service cycle with 2 weeks paid leave. (in addition to other leave entitlements)
  • Paternity Leave : 8 weeks paid Paternity Leave, accessible upon completion of 1 year of service.
  • Loaded Annual Leave : Enjoy 4 weeks of annual leave each year, with leave loading included.
  • Contract Flexibility : Enjoy the security of a 1 or 2-year fixed-term contract with the potential for extensions.
  • Relocation Assistance : One-time $1,500 relocation support, with 50% payable upfront and the remainder reimbursed upon receipt submission.
  • Superannuation : Standard superannuation contributions
  • Non-smoker Incentive: An additional 1% superannuation employer contribution for non-smokers (conditions apply).

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Remote Area Nurse (RAN) to join our healthcare team. As a RAN, you will play a vital role in providing essential healthcare services to individuals residing in Yalata Community and surrounding areas where access to medical care is limited. This is a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals who are passionate about making a positive impact in underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to individuals in Yalata, including health assessments, vaccinations, wound care, and chronic disease management.
  • Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies, including trauma and life-threatening situations, and administer immediate care until evacuation or further treatment is possible.
  • Educate community members on health promotion, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices, helping them take control of their well-being.
  • Work closely with a small team of healthcare providers, collaborating with other professionals and community members to assess patient needs, plan and deliver care, and monitor patient progress.
  • Administer medications and ensure proper storage and management of pharmaceuticals in accordance with established protocols.
  • Undertake cold chain procedures to ensure the proper storage and transport of temperature-sensitive medications and vaccines, maintaining their efficacy.
  • Assist in maintaining infection control procedures and hygiene standards, safeguarding both patients and healthcare personnel in the remote setting.
  • Be prepared to facilitate and coordinate medical evacuations when necessary, ensuring patients receive the appropriate care in a timely manner.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rostering to provide medical support and emergency care during evenings and weekends, ensuring round-the-clock healthcare coverage for the community.

Eligibility

  • This job opportunity is not a remote or work-from-home position; it requires the selected candidate to work on-site at the company's location.
  • Must be willing to relocate and live in the South Australian Aboriginal Community called Yalata.
  • Must be over 18 years of age.
  • Must have a current Australian driver’s licence and the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
  • Must be able to pass a police check assessment.
  • Must hold a valid Working with Children's Clearance.
  • Must be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Must be able to provide flexible work hours and participate in after-hours on-call.

Qualifications and experience

  • At a minimum, you must have completed one of the following: a Bachelor of Nursing, a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or a Bachelor of Nursing Science.
  • Remote Emergency Care (REC) course or an equivalent emergency course.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS).
  • Experience in remote healthcare or emergency care.
  • Understanding of Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), including Category S4 (Prescription Only) and S8 (Controlled Drugs) medications.
  • Comfortable and experienced in cannulation and Suturing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work in remote and challenging environments.
  • Ability to adapt to limited resources and use creative problem-solving skills.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality, culturally sensitive care.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and priorities.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for teamwork.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including an understanding of their cultural values, traditions, and healthcare practices.
