The Position
The Redox Shipping department helps facilitate the movement of over 24000 containers annually by synchronizing their movement with over 15 various shipping lines and agents. As Shipping Officer, you will be tasked with ensuring inward and outward shipments of material or product are accompanied by appropriate documentation, prepared and available on time, every time, to drive operational efficiency.
About You
- Must have previous experience with processing international shipping documents and related functions
- Dangerous Goods background – certifications in IMDG and IATA highly regarded.
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Exceptional time management ability
- Excellent and well-spoken verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
- Flexibility and the ability to think on your feet
- Keen to challenge yourself and constantly learn
- Monitor the department inbox, processing, redirecting and triaging requests as required.
- Receive, process and file all Hazardous Cargo Notices, Alerts, Arrival Notices, Tax Invoices, Outturn Reports, Delivery Orders, and Cargo Overstay Advices
- Monitor Redox import shipments, chasing suppliers for shipment details, shipment confirmation and/or documents
- Verify that all documentation relating to customs clearance is compliant and readily available
- Liaising with shipping lines, brokers or forwarders re location of and arrival dates for incoming shipments
- Liaising with Customs Brokers to rectify problems with incoming shipments
- Liaise with Suppliers to ensure timely shipment of purchase orders
- Assist in the processing of claims for damage or shortages
