Primary Functions:
-
Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives in alignment with overall business goals. -
Manage end-to-end recruitment and selection processes. -
Design, monitor, and refine HR systems, strategies, and procedures across the organisation. -
Foster and maintain a positive and collaborative workplace culture. -
Oversee and administer a performance appraisal system to drive high employee performance. -
Identify and monitor training needs, and coordinate staff development programs. -
Provide management with HR metrics and reports to support decision-making. -
Conduct workforce planning and maintain accurate HR reporting. -
Draft and manage employment contracts, offer letters, and on boarding documentation. -
Facilitate induction sessions to acclimate new employees to organisational policies, procedures, and culture. -
Support the implementation of performance management systems and processes. -
Guide managers in setting performance expectations, conducting reviews, and creating development plans. -
Assist in resolving employee performance concerns, grievances, and misconduct cases fairly and legally. -
Provide conflict resolution advice and ensure compliance with workplace policies and employment laws. -
Collaborate with the WHS Manager to uphold a safe and healthy work environment. -
Deliver WHS training and support incident reporting, risk assessments, and safety initiatives.
Requirements:
A successful HR Officer should have:
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a generalist HR role with exposure to recruitment, performance management, and compliance.
- Knowledge of Australian employment law, industrial awards, and HR best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Ability to interpret and apply employment legislation, workplace agreements, and HR policies.
- High level of confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR information systems.
- Understanding of Aboriginal culture and community dynamics.
- Ability to work effectively with Aboriginal people and in remote community settings.
- Current driver's licence
