Description:

Primary Functions:



  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives in alignment with overall business goals.


  • Manage end-to-end recruitment and selection processes.


  • Design, monitor, and refine HR systems, strategies, and procedures across the organisation.


  • Foster and maintain a positive and collaborative workplace culture.


  • Oversee and administer a performance appraisal system to drive high employee performance.


  • Identify and monitor training needs, and coordinate staff development programs.


  • Provide management with HR metrics and reports to support decision-making.


  • Conduct workforce planning and maintain accurate HR reporting.


  • Draft and manage employment contracts, offer letters, and on boarding documentation.


  • Facilitate induction sessions to acclimate new employees to organisational policies, procedures, and culture.


  • Support the implementation of performance management systems and processes.


  • Guide managers in setting performance expectations, conducting reviews, and creating development plans.


  • Assist in resolving employee performance concerns, grievances, and misconduct cases fairly and legally.


  • Provide conflict resolution advice and ensure compliance with workplace policies and employment laws.


  • Collaborate with the WHS Manager to uphold a safe and healthy work environment.


  • Deliver WHS training and support incident reporting, risk assessments, and safety initiatives.

Requirements:

A successful HR Officer should have:

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a generalist HR role with exposure to recruitment, performance management, and compliance.
  • Knowledge of Australian employment law, industrial awards, and HR best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to interpret and apply employment legislation, workplace agreements, and HR policies.
  • High level of confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR information systems.
  • Understanding of Aboriginal culture and community dynamics.
  • Ability to work effectively with Aboriginal people and in remote community settings.
  • Current driver's licence
