Role Description
The Aboriginal Liaison Officer (ALO) works in a multidisciplinary team providing outreach support, communication and cultural brokerage to Aboriginal clients and clinical practitioners to facilitate culturally safe and responsive holistic care and treatment.
The position sits within the Clinical Service Section in the Alice Springs Town Clinics and works with a multidisciplinary team including Doctors, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, Registered Nurses, SEWB Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals, Aboriginal Liaison Officers, Care Coordinators, Transport Officers and Medical Receptionists.
To be considered for this position, you will require:
- Identifies an Aboriginal person; recognised and accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate in one or more local Aboriginal languages and the ability to communicate sensitively in a cross cultural environment with Aboriginal clients and staff
- Demonstrated computer literacy with the ability to enter information into health databases such as Communicare.
- Current NT Drivers Licence or the ability to obtain one
