This position will be integral to the ongoing Alcohol and Drugs of Dependence Service transformation to a tertiary level providing best practice models, inclusive of families/carers and contemporary partnerships, to meet the needs of people with substance use disorders.
The Nurse Practitioner will take a lead role in ensuring targets are met in an efficient and effective manner which will include collaborating with the multidisciplinary partners to ensure patients receive the most appropriate care in the most appropriate place by the most appropriate personnel. It is therefore important that the successful applicant can demonstrate expert knowledge and skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively, work well in a team environment and influence change.
Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Increase accessibility to treatment on the Queensland Opioid Treatment Program QOTP for clients with opioid dependence in particular the Gympie region.
- Increase service capacity and availability for treatment on QOTP, as well as provide medication assisted treatment of opioid dependency, with care provided to be collaborative with the AODS medical officers.
- Provide effective, autonomous, and accountable healthcare that demonstrates application of expert level nursing knowledge, including skills in the expanding practice area of AOD nursing and management.
- Assessment and evidence-informed treatment of clients with problems relating to their use of alcohol or other drugs.
Remuneration value up to $14 816 p.m., comprising salary between $5721.10 - $5973.00 p.f., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 8) (Fixed-Term Temporary Full-Time, 76 hrs p.f.
