Job Description:
As the Senior Consultant, Health and Wellbeing, you will work in a small team, reporting to the Principal Consultant, Health and Wellbeing, in the Organisational Culture Unit within the Corporate Directorate. You will provide operational specialist advice and support on all occupational health and wellbeing matters affecting OIR's operations. You will collaborate with all OIR units to ensure the design and delivery of contemporary, best-practice health and wellbeing management strategies, plans, and programs.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform the functions of Rehabilitation and Return to Work (RRTW) Coordinator as outlined in the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003, assisting the department in meeting its legal obligations and facilitating safe and early return to work for injured and ill workers.
- Apply a sound understanding of legislation, including the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and Work Health and Safety Act 2011, and associated regulations.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement wellbeing and injury management strategies, including policies and initiatives related to:
o Workers' compensation and rehabilitation
o Incident and injury management
o OIR's Mentally Healthy Workplaces Strategy
o Corporate health programs, including the employee assistance program - Prepare and present documentation, including submissions, discussion papers, reports, correspondence, and briefing materials on complex health and wellbeing matters.
- Manage a portfolio of high-risk and complex health management cases, providing high-level consultancy services, advice, and recommendations.
- Build professional relationships with stakeholders, mentoring and coaching managers on health and wellbeing matters.
- Analyze trends in compensable claims and injury/illness management, providing recommendations for risk mitigation and reduction.
- Undertake training to fulfill the duties of a Sexual Harassment Contact Officer (SHCO) and support Workplace Respect training programs.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as WorkCover, QSuper/Australian Retirement Trust, and health service providers to ensure effective return-to-work programs.
