About You

You're calm, collected and resilient in the face of adversity and are looking to carry these qualities with you to the front line to start helping those in need. You are an independent, proactive thinker and worker but are also able to follow direction/s given by your managers and can work within a tight-knit team.

About the role

Our Supported Independent Living (SIL) Program helps people who have been in out-of-home care to make the transition into independent living. In a home environment, you will support the development of the participants skills to live as independently as possible and deliver innovative support structures within our SIL Program. These supports are provided in a home environment and can be shared or individual arrangements.

To Wellways, a Support Worker is as unique and individual as the participants they support. Our Support Workers come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, but they all share a common goal of empowerment and development of participants.

Support provided to participants include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting participants with personal care
  • Domestic and daily living support
  • Transporting participants
  • Meal preparation and shopping assistance
  • Overnight support (inactive sleepovers)
  • Promoting independent living, community participation and social inclusion

You will help participants flourish according to their own interests and goals to enable them to participate in a positive and confident manner within their own home and community .

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum Qualification of Certificate 3 or 4 in Mental Health, Disability, Aged Care or Home and Community Care (or currently enrolled)
  • Expertise across a diversity of disability types, including mental health
  • Evidence of working rights within Australia such as a passport or birth certificate
  • A current valid Driver's License and an insured and registered vehicle
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
  • National Police Records Check, Working with Children's Check - Employee and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
