Role Overview
Reporting to the Credit Manager, the Collections Officer will be responsible for managing payment collections from major and corporate customers, reducing outstanding accounts and aged debts. This role requires a proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a keen curiosity to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of outstanding debts and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Manage the debt collection and recovery process by reconciling overdue debts and contacting customers via email and phone.
- Collect payments for goods and services from customers.
- Identify and implement appropriate resolutions for outstanding accounts.
- Ensure the Customer Master and related records are consistently updated.
- Generate and distribute customer statements.
- Process credit card transactions and prepare EFTPOS banking for the branch.
- Handle refund requests through the Dashboard.
- Provide regular updates to the Credit Manager on dispute statuses.
- Collaborate with the Credit Manager to assess high-risk debtors, ensuring limits and trading terms align with company policies.
- Evaluate the creditworthiness of potential retail customers for account authorization.
- Refer delinquent debts to third-party collection agencies when necessary.
