Summary:
The Merchandiser in the FMCG industry is responsible for planning and executing merchandising strategies to maximize sales and profitability. This role requires excellent organizational and analytical skills, creativity, and knowledge of the market and consumer behavior.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement merchandising plans that align with the company’s overall goals and strategies.
- Collaborate with suppliers, retailers, and other stakeholders to select, price, and promote products.
- Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth, and make recommendations for product selection and positioning.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate product availability, while minimizing excess inventory and associated costs.
- Authorize promotions and pricing changes, negotiate with suppliers when necessary, and communicate changes to retailers.
- Conduct research and analysis of competitors and market conditions, identify emerging trends and consumer preferences, and make recommendations based on findings.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop effective campaigns and promotions.
- Develop visual displays and merchandising strategies that enhance the customer experience and showcase products effectively.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and standards, as well as regulatory requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to retailers and other stakeholders on effective merchandising practices and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
- Experience in merchandising, retail sales, or a similar role.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
