Job Purpose
We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Senior Track and Civil Engineer to support our committed and inclusive team. As a Senior Track and Civil Engineer, you will play a crucial role as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in railway track and civil engineering matters. Responsibilities include providing technical advice, content for scopes, investigations, assurance activities, and reviewing designs. Your expertise will ensure the network remains safe and meets all performance, reliability, and availability requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Technical Advice: Offer comprehensive track and civil technical advice to maintenance, projects, design, and asset management functions within the business.
Design Review: Participate in the review of designs for track and civil infrastructure from internal and external parties, including routine MPM works, enhancements, and third-party works.
Lead Investigations\: Conduct technical investigations into root causes of incidents where track or civil infrastructure is suspected to be at fault. Provide expert input into investigations led by other parties.
Maintenance Plans: Contribute to the short and long-term renewals and maintenance plans for UGLRL in areas such as rerailing, rail grinding, track resurfacing, turnout works, level crossing works, and ballast cleaning. This may include technical input or leading analysis projects.
Asset Strategy Development: Actively work with and provide engineering advice to the assets team to enable the development, updating, and maintenance of asset strategies for CRN assets.
Standards and Specifications\: Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating all standards, manuals, specifications, technical notes, and waivers within your discipline to ensure they remain safe and fit for purpose.
Standards Harmonisation: Collaborate with the Principal Track and Corridor Engineer to harmonise Engineering Standards and Codes managed by TfNSW with the needs of the business.
Track Stability Analysis: Facilitate the analysis of Welded Track Stability annually by maintaining and supporting a WTSA Analysis system. Provide technical support and advice to the Infrastructure team.
Third Party Works Review\: Assist the Principal Track and Corridor Engineer in reviewing Third Party Works applications and Development Applications.
Time Management\: Utilise effective time management skills for sequencing your work and managing resources.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an Engineering or related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications in Engineering or Asset Management are highly regarded.
Chartered Professional Engineer status (or eligibility for this status).
8+ years of practice in track, permanent way, or rail geotechnical roles, ideally with a mixture of project delivery, maintenance, design, and asset management.
