Collinsville Open Cut is located approximately 160km from Airlie Beach in Queensland, a town known as the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. Producing both metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market, the surface mine has a long life and is transitioning from a dragline strip to a truck and shovel terrace operation.
The primary focus of this role is to project manage activities associated with preparing and implementing projects associated with mine closure and Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) water destruction, in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager/SSE and positioned within the site senior leadership team, this role will offer variety and opportunity in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role is pivotal to the future of Collinsville Open Cut in ensuring that we responsibly and efficiently achieve our closure objectives in line with the life of mine.
In this role you will be responsible for:

Project managing technical studies

Leading the scoping and delivery of closure objectives

Leading the investigation of efficient, cost-effective AMD water destruction options and delivering successful outcomes to site

Implementing and managing processes for cost management, scheduling and risk management related to mine closure

Demonstrating an overriding commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibility by ensuring you and your team comply with Collinsville Open Cut’s SHMS and all relevant legislation

Understanding and implementing regulatory compliance for closure activities

Providing sound mine closure and water destruction advice to internal and external stakeholders

Collaborating with senior leadership to ensure project goals are achieved
About You:
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management roles in the mining industry

Qualifications in Project Management at diploma or bachelor level
-
Tertiary qualification in Environment Science, Engineering or equivalent is desirable
-
High level of business and commercial acumen
-
Knowledge of relevant legislation, Australian Standards and Government policy guidelines
-
Experience in the design, construction and management of complex mining/infrastructure projects working with multiple stakeholders
-
Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and facilitation skills as part of interfacing with various level of management and external bodies and agencies

Ability to work in high pressure and competing priority/ambiguous environments for sustained periods including outside normal business hours

Proactive attitude towards safety, a strong work ethic, and leadership capabilities

Willing to be innovative and challenge the ‘status quo’ with a focus on continuous improvement

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
