  • The Bakeshop for donuts, cakes, cookies and pies.
  • Neighbourhood, a suburban eatery offering all-day dining and featuring a beautiful wood-fired oven.

We are dedicated to traditional techniques and thoughtful execution while maintaining our no-frills, nostalgic vibe. We want our food to be approachable and craveable.

We are searching for chefs, apprentices and cooks with various skills and qualifications. We are very excited to offer this opportunity to jump on board and help grow our expanding team + business.

Full-time, part-time and casual roles are available in the following areas:

Breakfast Chef

  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies.
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, slicing bread and preparing sauces).
  • Cook breakfast menu items with the rest of the kitchen staff.
  • Answer, report and follow the Head Chef’s instructions.
  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food.
  • Stock inventory appropriately.
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and timely fashion.
  • Understand and comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with the Bread + Butter team and customers.
  • Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organisation of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.

Prep Chef/Cook

  • The Prep Cook is responsible for the daily preparation and execution of bulk food items in our bakery or other kitchen areas with established recipes and techniques.
  • The preparation of pre-prepared food items such as sandwiches and salads.
  • Answer, report and follow the Head Chef’s instructions.
  • Understand and comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organisation of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.

Leadership

  • Managing daily services across our venues.
  • Manage logistics for venues.
  • Ensuring and fostering a positive and creative environment within the team.
  • Employee training and growth.
  • Financial reporting.
  • Use of our bakery software Ordermentum.
  • Participating in open communication with our HR, venue managers, kitchen and front-of-house team members.
  • Creating/updating information sheets for employee knowledge.
  • Lead and supervise the department to ensure compliance with The Company policies.
  • Ordering and stock control.
  • Menu development.
  • Develop and Maintain HACCP procedures and practices.
  • Communicating and facilitating necessary repairs to equipment.
  • Support and train all our kitchen, bakery & pastry team members.
  • Ensuring the delivery of our menu items is to a high standard consistently.
  • Work collaboratively with our team to develop our dishes and how we provide them.
  • Learn all aspects of Bread + Butter Group operations, participate in company training programs, and implement and integrate our company policy and mission.
  • To maintain product quality above all else, putting customer satisfaction over profit.
  • Assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Ensuring meal and rest periods are provided.
  • Appraising performance.
  • Rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Demonstrated experience in a similar role.

Demonstrates good judgment, integrity, trust, ethics, and values.
