ATCO's Australian operations, based in Perth, Western Australia, specialize in providing innovative, customer-focused energy and infrastructure solutions. ATCO owns and operates the largest gas distribution network in Western Australia, with over 750,000 connection points and 14,000 km of pipelines. Additionally, we operate two cutting-edge power generation stations in Adelaide and the Pilbara.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Production Specialist (Operator/Maintainer) to join our Osborne Cogeneration (Combined Cycle) Power Plant on a full-time, permanent basis. This role involves working in a small team on a continuous rotating shift schedule.
The Role:
Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the boiler, turbine, and associated plant systems, including responding to plant upsets and failures. You will also contribute to the ongoing maintenance, administration, and management of the station.
Key Responsibilities include but will not be limited to:
- Operate and maintain the station’s high-pressure boiler, turbine, and related equipment in accordance with safety and license requirements, addressing any operational issues.
- Perform routine, planned, and unplanned maintenance tasks, including repairs and equipment upkeep, in line with your qualifications.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and propose solutions to maximize station availability and efficiency.
- Ensure plant dispatch complies with contract obligations and adheres to Australian Energy Market (AEM) rules, as well as instructions from the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO).
- Adhere to the station's Work Management System, preparing work permits, risk assessments, and managing isolations.
- Develop and implement standard operating and maintenance procedures.
- Serve as the permit holder for on-site work, sometimes overseeing contractor and service provider activities.
- Monitor and manage spare parts and consumables, updating the station’s Maintenance Management System as required.
- Participate in and occasionally lead station projects of varying size and complexity.
- Perform general housekeeping and administrative duties to maintain a clean and efficient work environment.
About You:
- A trade or technical qualification in a relevant field.
- At least 5 years of experience in power station operations or a similar heavy industry role.
- Boiler and Turbine Operation High-Risk Licences are desirable.
- A flexible, results-oriented approach to work.
- The ability to work collaboratively in a small team while adapting to a dynamic, multi-skilled environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive, self-starting attitude.
