Role and Responsibilities:
- A proactive, creative Strategic Design Officer(s) with 3+ years' experience working across government.
- Lead the development and implementation of human-centred evidence-based design and design thinking principles to support strategic conversations and outcomes for stakeholders.
- Leading and facilitating strategic design workshops to co-create policies and solutions, applying human-centred design practices to ensure that policy and projects address the needs and experiences of customers and staff.
- Articulate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, including active listening, demonstrating attentiveness and providing thoughtful feedback. Ensuring messages are understood as intended and understanding and addressing the perspectives and concerns of all participants.
- Experience in facilitating discussions and the ability to guide conversations, encourage participation and manage group dynamics.
- Ability to see the bigger picture and align discussions with broader organisational goals involving goal setting, scenario planning and alignment.
- Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and pivot discussions as needed.
- Experience with various facilitation tools and platforms to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of discussions.
- Experience in stakeholder and partnering with APS agencies to achieve government outcomes and alignment to the APS Reform agenda.
- Lead the transformation of innovative ideas into tangible concepts including business models, frameworks, services and products to propose improvements.
- Confidently scope a range of complex concepts in a clear and accessible way in writing, verbally and visually using a variety of techniques including storytelling, mapping, modelling.
- Build cases for change based on data and best practices.
Profile
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic design (3+ years), excellent facilitation and communication skills, and the ability to apply human-centered design principles. Experience working within the government sector and collaborating with stakeholders to drive policy solutions is essential. We're looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable, and can transform complex ideas into actionable outcomes.
