Be part of a purpose-led organisation with care at its core. You’ll make a difference by acting in the best interests of our communities and city. Be better together with collaborative and inclusive partnerships. Embrace possibilities and be open to new ideas and creating bold solutions.

About the role

This role places you in the heart of the decision-making process in the City of Sydney, working in the office of Greens Councillor Matthew Thompson. You’ll work in a fast-paced political environment, working alongside community and stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who:

  • understands the current political landscape, with a particular focus on local issues
  • has exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of written briefs, media materials, and correspondence on policy matters
  • has experience and/or a strong interest and commitment to environmental sustainability, human rights and social justice issues
  • wants to work collaboratively in a small team and take on new challenges

About Matthew
Matthew is a queer activist, community services worker and a budding ecologist. He is one of two Greens Councillors on the City of Sydney, alongside Councillor Sylvie Ellsmore. He is particularly passionate about pushing the City forward on climate justice and environmental sustainability, fighting for the rights of the queer and gender diverse community, and utilising his experiences of poverty to ensure everyone has what they need to live a good life.
