At the Department for Correctional Service (DCS) the aim of the Graduate Development Program (GDP) is to attract, develop and retain high performing, future focused professionals who contribute to building strong, effective teams.

Through this program, you will gain practical skills and knowledge essential for becoming a successful professional in the field. About us:

The Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and sixteen Community Correctional Centres across the state.

Eligibility:

  • Residency: You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Qualification: A minimum undergraduate qualification between the years 2022 and July 2025 with a strong academic record. We welcome graduates from diverse fields, including:

    • Law
    • Human Resources
    • Business/Commerce/Finance/Accounting
    • Data Analytics, Data Warehousing/Architecture
    • Computer Science and Software Engineering

Applicants with a university qualification in Social Work, Social Science and Psychology are encouraged to apply.

  • Background Check: You must be willing to undergo relevant criminal history check(s) and receive clearance to meet the required entry standards.
  • Employment Conditions: You must:
    • Meet all standard employment conditions.
    • Be able to travel independently to various work and training locations.
    • Be available for occasional out-of-hours work as needed.
  • Public Sector Eligibility: You must not be a current Public Sector employee or have previously accepted a voluntary separation package from the South Australian Public Sector.

Special Conditions:

  • A current South Australian Driver's Licence is essential.
  • A flexible approach to working hours is required.
  • Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight absences.
