About us

The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.

About the role

The Advisor provides operational and internal communications support to Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) with functions including but not limited to, secretariat services for the national Consumer Education Network (CEN), CAV internal communication functions and supporting stakeholder communications.

The Advisor role requires strong capabilities in meeting secretariat duties, digital marketing and communication functions, including the ability to provide advice and engage effectively with key stakeholders, as well as develop content for the purpose of internal and operational communications.

This role is suited to a highly organised professional who enjoys engaging with internal and external stakeholders with advice and support to meet their operational communication objectives.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Provide coordination, advice and support to the Director, CAV to assist in the effective operation of the Consumer Education Network.
  • Collaborate with senior executives and external stakeholders nationally to facilitate CEN meetings, including the provision of administrative support such as managing the shared mailbox, scheduling meetings, coordinating and assisting with the preparation of meeting agendas, papers, speaking notes and minutes, and providing appropriate advice and information.
  • Coordinate priority projects and initiatives for the CEN, such as the calendar of campaign activities, incorporating timely planning and delivery of campaigns, (through the DGS Communication team), campaign toolkits and associated actions, as well as stakeholder engagement to ensure contributions from across jurisdictions.
  • Support the implementation of an internal communications framework to ensure that staff are regularly informed of Consumer Affairs Victoria's regulatory activities; and understand and embrace internal policies, business plans and priorities, values and organisational changes.

About you

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Skilled in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in administrative, and marketing and communications processes, procedures and systems.
