Are you a commercially minded legal professional looking for your next challenge? We are seeking an experienced lawyer to join our team on a 12-month contract and play an integral role within a dynamic, fast-paced in-house legal environment. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with expertise in commercial contracts, particularly in the technology space, to contribute to meaningful work across our corporate and commercial activities.
Reporting to the Head of Legal, you’ll provide valuable legal advice and support on a range of matters, with a primary focus on commercial and technology contracting. While your main focus will be on contracts, this role offers the chance to engage in a variety of other corporate and commercial legal areas and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, including technology agreements such as SaaS, software licenses, and services agreements
- Providing legal guidance on operational and strategic matters
- Advising on the application of relevant legislation and ensuring compliance with regulations
- Supporting business units in managing contractual risks and aligning agreements with company objectives
- Collaborating with internal teams on projects and initiatives that require legal input
- Assisting with disputes, litigation, and regulatory inquiries related to commercial matters
- Managing relationships with external legal providers to ensure high-quality service delivery
- Contributing to group integration and transformation projects
- Staying ahead of legal and industry trends to proactively advise the business
About You
To thrive in this role, you should have a strong foundation in commercia law, with a focus or interest in technology procurement. You’ll be adept at managing a variety of legal complexities and comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You are someone who enjoys tackling both the legal details and the broader business implications, providing practical and actionable legal solutions.
To be successful, you should have:
- At least 8 years of experience in commercial law, with some exposure to technology agreements (such as SaaS agreements, software licenses, IT services)
- Strong legal, negotiation, and drafting skills, with the ability to address complex commercial issues practically and efficiently
- Experience in both in-house and private practice, ideally with a focus on providing legal support to business teams
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including senior management
- Tertiary qualifications in Law
- A current practicing certificate in an Australian jurisdiction
